  • Mark started skating at age 10 in Paisley, Scotland.
  • Mark went to Trinity High School and received straight 1’s in 8 standard grade subjects and 4 A’s and a B in his higher subjects. Mark says he still has issues with the B!;-)
  • Mark performed with the Renfrewshire concert band as a flautist and performed solos both in school and in larger concert venues.
  • Mark took part in public speaking and debating events throughout high school.
  • Mark’s favorite subjects at school were art and French.
  • Mark free skated for 9 years, becoming a medalist in junior at the British Championships and Great Britain squad member before switching to dance.
  • Mark is one of few male skaters who performed the Biellmann spin.
  • Having switched to ice dance in the summer of 2004, Mark teamed up with Lauren Bradshaw. They came 2nd in junior at the British Dance Championships just 4½ months later.
  • Like Chrissy, Mark loves to travel and is very lucky to have seen a lot of the world. Many of Mark’s mum’s side of the family live in Australia. As a result, Mark has snorkeled in the Great Barrier Reef.
  • Mark’s brother Christopher, 26, is studying for his Ph.D. in European politics in Italy, having graduated with first class politics and philosophy degree from Oxford University. Mark’s sister Rachel, 19, is studying at St Andrew's University in English Literature and French.
  • Mark loves working with children, and in the summer of 2003 he worked with Cairellot summer school play scheme. More recently Mark has undertaken coaching roles in various rinks throughout the UK. He loves teaching and having the chance to work with young people!
