JULY 10, 2007

Hi everyone,

Thanks for checking by our website again. For those of you not from the UK we hope you are enjoying a sunny summer and those of you suffering here let's live in hope some good weather can be seen over the next couple of months!

Chrissy and I are getting prepared to leave for New York tomorrow and we are both very excited about the adventure. There does seem to be a lot of planning especially when we will be away for almost a month.

The last month has been chaotic with flooding affecting the ice rink in Sheffield and rendering it out of action for one week. It really shocked me how badly the situation affected the area and I am increasingly aware of the hazard of global warming. It is so difficult for us to comprehend what effect our lifestyles are having on the planet until we are confronted by such freak natural incidents! I do hope that the efforts being made by campaign groups and the likes of the Live Earth concert can help make a difference.

Chrissy had a short college trip to Barcelona during the week of flooding in Sheffield. From her stories and pictures it sounds like she had a wonderful time. Getting the opportunity to explore Europe's capital cities is a definite tertiary benefit from relocating your whole life from across the globe!

Whilst Chrissy was away I had the chance to see my family and it coincided well with a trip to my sister's school performance of the musical "We Will Rock You". I am so glad that my schedule finally allowed a window to see one of Rachel's school productions which I can now confirm are extremely professional. More special over my visit home was the indulgence of being with all of my family. It was wonderful to be able to be surrounded by the comfort of home and family. It doesn't happen very often for Chrissy and I to be able to spend prolonged periods with our families but it certainly makes those times all the more memorable.

Off to the ice rink now for our last day's training before we leave. I am sure we will have lots to report on next month.

Enjoy your summer,

Mark :-)
